Draft surveys rely on accurate draft readings, vessel hydrostatic data and measured quantities of ballast, fuel, fresh water and other deductible weights.
Good preparation
- Make hydrostatic tables and tank calibration data available.
- Provide safe access to draft marks and sounding points.
- Stabilise transfers during the agreed measurement period.
- Advise any inaccessible or non-standard tanks.
- Record density sampling location and method.
Sea state, swell, trim, list, unreadable marks and incomplete tank information should be recorded as survey limitations.
